Be sure you get the right one for the right starter ring.

I'll avoid the pile on about Skytech.

Is it for a Long EZ?  The wheel well will not usually accept it.

Hangar Flying / Re: EZ plans for all...
« on: August 21, 2013, 01:07:30 AM »
The original plans are available - a lot of people didn't build one and the plans were transferrable - I encourage non-builders to sell new, unused plans for $300.   The Agreement with Rutan, if signed, said we wouldn't build more than one plane to a set - so these plans are still waiting for their first plane to be built.  The computer disk plans don't have the critical 13 template sets, I don't think.

Hangar Flying / Re: LE Main Spar holes!
« on: August 21, 2013, 01:03:52 AM »
I've just reconnected wiring with a new wing to an old fuselage...Be sure you have at least 12" extra wire in the wing section, cutting the wire too short makes the connections really difficult if you ever take the wings off.  Lifting the wing up and holding it off the spar while you connect wires is a real pain and requires 6 hands.  Extra wire in the wing allows you to connect while the wing is on a saw horses... with fewer hands.  The strobe end of the wing should have enough room for light unit and 2 connectors - meaning a big hole to work with.  You don't need a conduit in the spar or wing.  However the wings I just rigged had a light pvc tube in the wing and that made it quite a bit easier to feed wires through.  I suspect the spar could have similar benefits but I've never needed it either.

Hangar Flying / Re: Preferred epoxy
« on: August 21, 2013, 12:55:08 AM »
Why not ask this question of an Epoxy Engineer - each Epoxy has different qualities in terms of strength, etc.  I'd hate to find out my epoxy is half as strong as EZ-Poxy which has been tested by Rutan...:

The stuff Spruce sold over the years started out lighter and whiter and heavier and bluer later on.   We've used the floatation billets with great success over the years.

Hangar Flying / Re: Propeller Bulkhead for 0-200-A.
« on: July 12, 2013, 08:32:45 PM »
There are simple Hershey kiss spinners that plop onto the aft crush plate, 6" is likely the right size for an O-200 crush plate.  Chris Wade sold them and was lost in a Cessna accident - his son has taken over the fabrication - get in touch for more details.  There are the earlier designs that go to the front of the prop, with prop cut outs...with the most sophisticated now offered by James Redmon, but may not be right for 6" crush plate...the only sure thing is that aluminum spinners can fail and cause all manner of problems...

Hangar Flying / Re: LE Nose Gear
« on: July 12, 2013, 08:28:52 PM »
The original spring on the Long EZ can be augmented by using a Cozy IV spring - which might also bring up the nose a little - but wait to weight is on the plane and check longeron "level" is best advice.
