Can anyone tell me if the 2.80/2.50-4 NO-TREAD nosewheel tires are still available, and if so, where to get some?
Thanks,

Hangar Flying / Re: Long-EZ Roncz canard question
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:07:03 PM »
Dave,

Thanks for the response.  I guess sometimes things are simpler than they seem.  CP changes to the GU canard emphasized removing the term centerline and replacing it with WL 19.4.  This got me questioning the positioning.   The cross section of the canard and lift tab shown on C1 is how I assumed the tab location should be but the centerline change in the original plans left me wondering if my assumption was correct.  Thanks again.

Hangar Flying / Long-EZ Roncz canard question
« on: September 30, 2010, 06:33:45 PM »
Hello all,

I'm starting a Roncz canard for my Long-EZ and I'm stuck on the positioning of the 3" x 1.2" inserts for the lift tabs.  The GU canard plans, pg 10-2, show the inserts centered at BL 8 and, what appears to be the c/l of the shear web face.  The GU canard also shows this "centerline" is actually WL 19.4.
Now on the Roncz plans the WL is 19.8 which, if this is also the c/l of the insert holes, seems pretty low on the shear web face with little edge distance from edge of insert to lower shear web face radius.
All that to ask; is the c/l of the insert holes supposed to be at WL 19.8?  Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

I have these bellhorns and nearly every other new Brock part for a Long EZ.  I don't want to part out the part set though.

Hangar Flying / Long EZ parts
« on: March 20, 2006, 09:25:37 AM »
Hi all,

I am sad to report that I have to abandon my early stage Long EZ project.

All the parts I am selling are in new condition with receipts and purchased within the last few months and include:

Nearly all of the Brock hardware with the exception of manual nosewheel retract mechanism and manual speed brake

Hertzler Silver Bullet propellor for 160hp

New old stock WeldTech 0-320 engine mount

Featherlite landing gear struts still wrapped in original packaging

I fabricated the bulkheads and fuselage sides, all professionally done.

Contact me for more information.  I will add a post to the classified section later in the week.

Hangar Flying / Long EZ centersection hard points
« on: February 07, 2006, 12:13:33 PM »
Hello all:

I am getting ready to build the centersection spar for my Long EZ.  I ordered the 1/4 x 2 and 1/8 x 2 2024 aluminum for the hardpoints and was delivered 2024-T4 rather than 2024-T3.
Does anyone in the group have the expertise to tell me if the T4 will be suitable for the spar hardpoints?  From what I see in mechanical properties tables, there is a small difference in ksi T3 and T4.
Is this difference enough that I should be concerned?

Thanks,
Greg

Hangar Flying / Best 160hp 0-320 for Long EZ
« on: January 11, 2006, 01:54:24 PM »
I am in the process of deciding on an engine for my Long EZ project.  A 160hp 0-320 is where I am leaning right now with one mag and LSE ignition and Ellison or Airflow Performance induction.
If I decide to get a used engine, is there one model (e.g. 0-320 D3G) that would be a better choice for a Long EZ vs. other dash numbers?  If there is a model or two better suited, what is the reason, weight, dimension, etc?
Thanks,
Greg

Hangar Flying / Davenport Nose
« on: December 10, 2005, 10:00:54 AM »
I am looking for pictures of a Long EZ with a Davenport nose.  I will be ready to do the nose on my Long EZ within a couple of months.  I have purchase plans for the Davenport nose but would like to see some photos of a completed Long with the same nose before I start.
You can send me pics at gegullikson@yahoo.com
Thanks.

Hangar Flying / Canopy Gas Spring

Can someone please give me a model number or length of the gas spring used for a Long EZ canopy?  Stabilus is the make I would prefer to use.

Hangar Flying / Foam sources
« on: June 17, 2005, 12:11:23 PM »
I recently ordered some Divinycell H45 foam from AC Spruce.  The price has doubled from what is listed in their current catalog.  Does anyone know of a source for foam other than Wickes or AC Spruce?
I am located in S. California.

Thanks,

Greg

Hangar Flying / Long EZ wheels and brakes
« on: March 16, 2005, 08:13:59 PM »
Advice wanted on wheels and brakes.  I am getting ready to purchase wheels and brakes for my Long EZ project.  I have heard mixed reviews on the Cleveland 199-152 kit with some saying they are fine and others insisting that the Long needs more brake. Is it worth the extra couple of pounds to get a set of aluminum Grove wheels and brakes with a bit more stopping power or save the 2-3 lbs and stay with the magnesium Clevlands?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hangar Flying / sand blasting paint
« on: March 12, 2005, 10:00:43 AM »
That is how paint is removed from the B2 bomber.  I have done this on many occasions.  Rather than sand though, we use a wheat based media that looks almost like cream of wheat.  This method is very effective but you must be very careful because if you hold the nozzle in any one place too long, you are into the plies.

Just remember not to EVER have titanium in contact with cad plated hardware, BIG corrosion factor.

Do you have a link for the Aerocanard construction documents?  I cannot find it on their website.
