Waiter or Drew,

I'm about to tackle hookin' up my oil lines to my second oil cooler under the GIB thigh support.  I bought the aluminum lines you specified (Waiter) from Spruce,  and I remember you telling me that the flare angles for aviation were different than for automotive.   I have a couple questions.

1) Can I still use automotive fittings and flares ?  Heavier ?

2)  I plan to use flex lines from the engine to the firewall and solid lines after that.  How do I anchor / transition at the firewall ?

How tough is it to make an  ELT  antenna ?

My  AMK - 450 unit  ( that's the one that has the replaceable duracel batteries ) still has the BNC connector on it but there's no wire antenna coming from it.  

I checked on ordering a new one.  It can be had . . .but for $ 51.00.  Seems a little steep for what I think is just a wire.  12 "  or  24 " long.

Help ! !   I bought a used  HSI / NAV  unit from a guy in Florida.  I finally got it hooked up (all the pin-out wires in the right places ), but when I push the Marker Beacon test switch to test the lights, they don't work.  The common wire that goes to all three lights carries the current and the light fixtures are in plastic tubes so they "float" and are not grounded.  When I put a meter to the cases it reads 7 volts and when I push the test switch it drops to zero.  Everything else on the radio seems to work, but I can't make the lights work.  I took the center wire off each light and ran a jumper from ground and then they light up ( but very dimly ).  The bulbs are all fine.  I'm stuck ! !   Any ideas ?   This is a Narco 124 TSO unit.  About 1977 vintage.  I have the manuals but don't know what else to try.

Speaking about canopies, . . .  I was wondering about the possibility of covering my wingtip strobe / Nav light assy.  I wanted to make them more streamlined and cover them, tapering off at the end.  Does " Todd's  Canopy "  have the ability to make something like that ?   I'd need a clear cover, something in the shape of the old Volkswagen turn signal that sat on top of the fender.  Round and bulbous at the front and tapering away to nuthin' at the end.   Any ideas guys ?

Does anyone know where to get a marker beacon antenna for the gear legs on an EZ ?  Glennbob

Does anyone know about the possibility of  Making cooling plenums like Bill James has except for updraft cooling ?   What type of material did he use ?  It would be great to be able to maintain safe CHT's while taxiing or doing ground tests.
