Longeze landing - lessons for us all

Its instuctional and shows how easy it is to get distracted even for the most experienced
Here is my take on what happpened
Set up for a great landing , landing brake down -but no nosewheel down .
Pilot realises nosewheel not down and starts winding it down -stops and then retracts landing brake - looses concentration on flying properly ( sec 17 )
20 starts to get nosewheel down
27 looks like going around but landing brake starts coming out again
28 - landing brake down and nose starts pitching up ( loosing airspeed ? )
29 canard stalls and bellyflops
The aircraft remains largly intact which is lucky for the pilot
It easy to get distracted in these crucial phases of flying and landing - something all of us can learn from this

Hi All

I would like to add a little to your excellent description:   The pilot started his
pull up around 0.13 or 0.14 min.   He obviously was too slow to go around at
0.26.   The difference is 0.13 or 0.14 min or 8 seconds.   Part of the pilots
rule of "Fly the Airplane" is "Watch your airspeed".   His engine was running;
he could have gone around.  Messing around with the airbrake and the nose
gear damaged a good airplane.

Watch your airspeed!

Pretty simple rule-of-thumb:  Once you commit to a go-around, DON'T SECOND-GUESS!

He would have a lot less to talk about by taking her around for another try.

"Go-Arounds Are Free" is a good mantra... A shame to see the plane take that beating- hope he can repair!

Looks pretty cool on the ground though, . .if he could change to retractable gear,  now might be a good time to do it !   Did you see the gear leg go flying when he hit ?  Major bummer ! !

It looked like there was only one wheel on the gear bow.   There must have been another
wheel flying somewhere.
