What are the dimensions of the speed break spring ?
    -Wire diameter,
    -Spring diamenter,
    -Lenght (or nomber of spire)

Gilbert: The part #is 01-27600 from Aircraft spruce. Tension 10". long.01-37500 tension 30". Hope this helps Chuck

Thank you for thr input.

But I need the all dimensions, as I don't plan to order springs from France, and intend to buy here equivalent material, or to manufacture them by myself with appropriate caracteristics.
 (I'm now flying, and after moving, I lost the Speedbreak addendum drawing years ago, and those I instal are too soft. I'll appreciate avoiding lot of flyght tests to reach approximatively the operative value........).

Hi again Gilbert

These springs are the following dimensions. Wire size .105 Inch
Spring diameter .5625 Inch

That's about 2.66mm and 14.28mm respectively

Hope this gets you closer.

Thaks to you both for those quick reponses.

And, how many spires ?
According to diameters (wire & outer-spring), those springs are far stronger than those I install ! Sure, they cnn't work.

Hi Gilbert: I've got some more info on the springs. Aircraft Spruce P/N 01-27600,spries 157 wire dia.1.50mm spring O.D.8.85mm length 25.5 cm. I also checked the plans. Screen Door Spring .375x1/16 wire dia. Unstretch length approx. 10". It also says, Adjust the spring (LB-12) tension such that a 40lb pull at the trailing edge will kick the LB20 away from it's stop And automatically close the Brake. If it closes at less than 40lbs tighten LB12 tension. This adjust the brake so it will close itself above 95knts. to prevent overstress. Plans call for two springs. Hope this helps  Chuck

? 40 lb,   or   4.0 lb ?
I suppose it is 4.0 ........

i bought it too! gas strut replaces springs, no slamming back. u should join CSA, its in the news letters. easy install (no more springs/slamming)
he gives part #'s.   CSA $25 dollars per year

What is the stretched lenght of springs at AirspeedBrake RETRACTED position? (Handle on armrest). Mine are 350 mm = 14". is that a common value ? (unstretched length is 10").

All is Ok now.
Automatic flip up at 85kts. (160 km/h)

May be I will change from springs to gas strut to avoid slamming. Winter time job....

I'll join CSA to get explanations and data; and furthermore a lot of friendly touches.

Gilbert. FYI. I installed a Berkut style electric speed brake similar to James Redmonds.

It's light, and in my opinion a simpler installation than the plans built.
