Title: Oil breather mod
Post by: av-mech on July 20, 2011, 01:57:51 PM
So in my continuing effort to reduce oil coming out of the breather tube I have manufactured the following part.  It is TIG welded from a AN824-10D elbow and some 6061-T6 tubing.  It screws into the breather port on the nose of the engine.

Well the good news is that the fitting worked great.  I flew two sorties today with only a few drops of oil on the cowling after a total of 1.5 hours.  Can't really complain about that I guess.  I found that you could buy one of those parts pre-made by Continental for about 225.00, there is another company on the net selling the same thing I made for around 165.00.  I made mine for about 10 bucks!
