Hangar Flying / oil separator
« on: March 01, 2011, 04:00:09 PM »
Hi, I have a 0-200 engine in my VE and an considering a oil/air separator. Any thoughts on installing one verses just plumbing a line out the back next to the exhaust pipes. I have heard conflicting arguments for and against the separator and would appreciate other opinions. Thanks

Hangar Flying / ve ram air induction box
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:34:23 AM »
Hi, I am getting closer to completing  the VE upgrades and I need some help. Where do I get a Ram air induction box with filter with carb heat that will fit a 0-200? I have looked at the James Aircraft site and wonderd if  anyone has used their designed air box in their VE? Are there additional companies that make a similar or even better product? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,  Alleycat

Greetings, I would like to construct the trailing edge fences for my VE, can some one help me with the sizes and placement of the units. I would like to fabricate the blended winglets that have I've seen on, I believe a Long EZ. Any specs on how they are made and what form they take. Is there a top speed gain? Thanks for the help. Greetings, I was wondering if anyone out there is running a VE 0-200 with a Ellison throttle body. If so could you give me some input about the performance differences of the ETB vs carb and any additional considerations that may sway my decision  toward the Ellison. Thanks for the input. Allan

Hangar Flying / ve baffling
« on: September 30, 2009, 10:23:05 AM »
Hi, I just started the baffling metal work in a ve with the 0-200 engine. After the metal work is completed what would be the best material to use , silcone rubber, or other materials? I would welcome pictures of a completed 0-200 baffling job along with any "better" modifications. Thanks,  Allan   Please send pics and info to adwest99@yahoo.com

Hangar Flying / VE long distance trailering
« on: September 03, 2009, 06:11:07 AM »
Greetings, I will be trailering a VE 1800 miles, and would welcome suggestions as to the best way to "package" the project. Nose gear up or down?   I assume the engine towards the front of trailer to increase tongue weight.  Thanks

Hangar Flying / down draft cooling
« on: August 22, 2009, 01:22:15 PM »
Hi group, I acquired a VE project. It is at the stage where a decision has to be made regarding conventional baffling or downdraft  for cooling.  I was wondering if anyone out there has used DD cooling sucessfully on an 0-200 Continental engine. I have read the Bill James' articles on cooling and was hoping it can be applied to my engine. The plane is based near Tucson AZ. so cooling is of paramount importance. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Allan
