Has anyone installed dual controls in their Long EZ? How much work was involved? Thanks for the info.

Throttle:  If you have a push pull throttle, it should be no big deal to connect a rod to the front throttle that comes back to a rear throttle.  I would pretty much make the rear throttle "frictionless".  Take a look at plans like Decathelons and the like to see how they are set up.

Rudderwise:  Either email Tom Staggs or find his website.  He has done it.

With that being said, I think it is very hard to land a Longez from the back.  Up and away---no big deal----but in that case, you really would not need the throttle nor the pedals.  The throttle would be more important (up and away only).

Hi Bill

I have dual controls except for the rudders/brakes.   Your space is very
limited to do the rudders/brakes.

My throttle, mixture, and carb heat are all dual.   I plan to have some
instruments for the copilot as well.

It WOULD be hard to land from the back seat.   Eventually I will
solve that problem as well.

I would also be hard to land a "standard" Longeze from the back seat
if you had nothing but a stick.

If you work with a local builder the job is pretty simple; I designed and
built mine with NO help.

There are two reasons I'd like a dual throttle in my EZ.

The first is to give give my wife and friends some basic flight instruction for educational/fun purposes.   Since the EZ needs little/no rudder for shallow turns, the stick and throttle seem enough.

The second is to give the GIB a chance to safely land in case the pilot is incapacitated (bird strike, medical).   It seems the GIB would stand a better chance with a throttle rather than waiting for the plane to run out of gas.

Landing from the back seat would be a challenge, especially for a novice.  Why add the additional task of making that a dead-stick landing?

So, in the second case, the purpose of the throttle would be to help make an emergency landing by the GIB more survivable.

Here's the dual throttle setup in the Berkut.  Looks simple enough:
