Pre-cut foam cores for Long-EZ
« on: September 26, 2007, 02:34:37 PM »
Hello all,

I just purchased an original Long-EZ plans set, and I intend to start building next spring.  I'm planning to spend the winter gathering materials etc. that I'll need for this project, and I'm wondering about pre-cut foam cores for the Long-EZ wing, strake, and Roncz canard.  Someone told me that these are still available.  Does anyone know if in fact they are, and who is supplying them?  I don't mind the idea of hotwiring, but this looks like a good way to save some time and maybe get a better result.  I'll welcome any suggestions or comments.  Thanks.

Localizer,

Precut wing & canard foam cores are available from Featherlite.  They have no website, but you can email them at fthrlite@pacific.net nd request a price list.  They have reputation for quality and their prices are reasonable.

Best wishes with your project.

N31WJ:

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly.  I'll get in touch with Featherlite and see what they have to say.

Cheers!

Don't forget about this guy also.  A few guys at the canard zone forum have raved about his stuff.  do a search for CNC cores over there and read through the messages.  He's in Iraq untill November, but his website is: http://www.eurekacnc.com/  His stuff looks great.

The fellow that the last poster referred you to is overseas and won't be back for some time.  Contact him anyway, he gets e-mail.  A friend of mine bought his last wings before he deployed but may haave to part out the project.  Let me know if you get interested.

Thanks for all the info, guys.  Featherlite got back to me with a price list, and between them and Eureka CNC (I've just sent him an email) I'll be able to source a lot of the materials I'll need.  I really appreciate the input.  Flyingwaldo:  please let me know if your friend decides to part out his project and no longer needs those cores.  Perhaps we can cut a deal.

Cheers.
