Title: Rough River canard fly-in

Greets!
I don't post here much (but should?), I'm building a Cozy MK-IV currently about 1/2 done.
Just a quick post (ya, right) to notify everyone about what I think is the premiere canard fly-in at Falls of Rough State Resort Park in Kentucky, the last weekend of this month. FAA identifier 2I3 (Two India Three). This will be the Silver anniversary (that be 25) of the fly-in.
As long as I've been attending RR, there have been ~60 canards in attendance, a few metal planes, and even a "Goose". A head count of warm bodies (pilots, builders, potential builders, and fanatics) typically exceeds 150.
www.roughriver.org for details. Rooms at the RR lodge are sold out, but an unlimited number of camping spots always available.

The Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Sixty two airplanes I think they said. The Canard driver’s best flyin destination, I think they say. Dave and Betsy Russell and the others out did themselves again. Great folks, great planes, great weather, and some great stories. Stories in the night chill under the trees and stars that you decide not to miss, and just sit and hug yourself rather than run back to your room to get your jacket. Well, maybe a quick dash.
A little fun coming home. The GPS was showing around 215 mph much of the way. Passing Texarkana I called the tower for a Parrot check. The controller came back with “We have you fifteen miles northwest, westbound, squawking one-two-zero-zero, at eight thousand four hundred feet, doing one thousand one hundred ninety five miles an hour. “ I started to key the radio and hesitated, feeling like everyone within earshot wanted to say something. But we were all temporarily speechless, especially the controller… After a moment I replied “That’s not bad on six gallons an hour.” He replied “That would be… one hundred ninety five miles an hour.” You could hear his buddies heckling him in the background. I said “Aw Heck.”
I will be requesting a copy of that tape :)

Great story Bill! Good comeback on the 6 GPH.
It was good to see you again at RR. I'm ready for next year.

What are those little "passenger" symbols tick-marked along the fuselage under your canopy rail? :) I know you are having a ball giving all those rides and I do hope you are keeping a scrap book of those smiling faces :)

Thanks to everyone for making rough river a great event again. You have to go far to find such a great bunch of talented and friendly people. As a canard wanna-be driver you made me and Winston (Red dog#2) feel so welcome. In addition to Mike's always great secret recipe chili we were treated to some fine jambalaya this year. The craftsmanship on the planes is amazing and the owners' willingness to share their expertise sets a standard congress should try to follow. Larry Collins, Richmond, KY
