Just leave the wheel pants on, they will pack with snow and then act like ski's, no problem.

Freezing every night, 40's - 50's every day. Patches of snow still on the ground after almost 2 weeks. Bugs out now during mid-day and had to clean the leading edges. Electric socks are WONDERFUL!
