Title: Help with LongEZ / Cozy Mark IV purchase in New England

I've been flying for 11 years and own a Robinson R44 helicopter, but it burns 18gph for 115kt cruise, so I only use it for local trips.

I recently moved to Cambridge, Mass., and am looking to buy a canard (either Long EZ or Cozy Mark IV). It will be used primarily for cross-country trips where fuel efficiency is important. I would usually be flying solo, and sometimes with one passenger, although it would be nice to be able to take three pax on occasional vacation trips.

I would like to fly it IFR, but mainly to deal with the low visibility days of New England rather than flight through heavy precipitation or turbulence.

I'm an experienced pilot, but new to the homebuilt world. Is there anyone who can give me some pointers on the characteristics of these canard designs, and what to look out for on a pre-purchase inspection?

Also, is there anyone in the area who has a canard and wouldn't mind showing me your aircraft, or taking me for a flight to get to know these aircraft a little better? I'm happy to offer you a stunning tour of Boston in my R44 based out of BED.

Paul I think I can help, I live in central MA and have a long EZ and I used to have a Vari-Eze many years ago. Unfortunately my Long is not quite finished but should fly this summer. I do have friends in the area that could get you a ride. I also hold a commercial helicopter rating that I got in an R-22 about 25 years ago.
