Hi Dave,
Could you explain how you would balance the prop static? I made a "hub" with a tip in order to find the balance point with all the blade horizontal, but I'm not convinced by the result: if i add 20 g on a blade the balance is the same... not efficient!
What is the method for a dynamic balance?

Hello!
If you have a good method to balance a 3 blades propeller, I will be glad to know it!
I'm able to balance my 2 blades prop but with 3 blades the problem is more difficult.

Hi,
Here under the reply of Gary...
"The drive lug plays an insignificant role on a wooden prop. All the torque is transmitted due to friction. The important issue is the 2 1/4' center pilot should have adequate engagement to keep the prop centered. You certainly don't need much of a shim to provide a gap between the prop and the spinner bulkhead. I would think that .063" would be sufficient."

Hi canardians,
I bought a new prop. The new one has more pitch than the previous prop, so I have to add a piece of aluminium between the spinner back plate and the prop otherwise the leading edge is in contact with the back plate.
What is the minimum length of the drive lug that must enter into the prop?
I hope my question is clear enough

Thanks for the reply. What is your full throttle rpm at cruise altitude? How did you takeoff at 1600 lbs., that's 175 lbs over max takeoff weight, impressive that it wold fly?
sorry i did mistake with conversion kg into lbs... I mean 1150 lbs!About full throttle TAS, if my memory is good it was about 145 Kt at 2950 RPM ZP 3000 Ft. I felt that engine could take more rpm, but I don't like exceeding limitation..

I have a long EZ, O235 equipped with 59X64: cruising TAS at 2400 is 120 Kt without pants, 125 Kt with!
today, outside temperature was 90°F, airfiel altitude 110ft, TOW 1600 lbs airborne in less than 1500ft.

Unfortunatly, type engine mounts is confrmed: J-7401-8.
However, I'm not sure J-7401-8 are the engine mounts required by Rutan. I bought the plane like this and I haven't any document for check if theses mount are suitable. If someone can confirm theses mount were required by rutan it would be a firts step. But I believe that Rutan would have choosen very common parts.
I contacted AS, because theses mounts weren't in their catalog and they reply it was possible to make an order with 19 weeks for delivery.
Is a type of mount is so important? It is easy to find mounts for O235L2C, slightly different from O235H2C...

I'm new and happy owner of a long ez. I live in Europe, so please, be clement with my english
My plane is O235 H2C equipped and engine mounts (J-7401-8) need to be replaced. I contacted AS and they told me they have 19 week of lead time!
Questions are the following:
-Where can I order J-7401-8 shock mount with a normal time for delivery?
-Is it possible to fit another type of shock mounts? I thought to order the same than for O235 L2C.
-If the previous question is yes, which type of shock mount is suitable?
