Hangar Flying / Fuel Cap O rings

Does anyone know the correct o ring that seals the "brock" fuel cap??

It seems all the ones that I've found lateley are much too thick!!

Hangar Flying / Align Boring an engine case

Ok I just got an engine case (o200) back from the overahaul shop and they told me that the case is garbage. I guess the cam bearing surfaces are badly worn. well the trouble is I'm having a hard time trying to find someone to fix it!

Does anyone know of a good shop in the northwest that can align bore the case??  I'd hate to have to throw it out!

Hangar Flying / Changing From DOT-3 to J-13!!

What sort of flush is needed on the brake system to use j-13 (mil 5606) hydraulic after I've been using Dot 3??

I know the dot 3 is better, but a perspective buyer of the plane wants it back to J-13.   I think perhaps a rebuild of the sytem may be in order.  :D

Hangar Flying / Repaint advice

Well I've had mt Varieze for a couple of years now,, and I love the plane.

But its time to repaint it, the only problem is the paint that is currently on the plane has not adhered to the primer very well. For example you can pull off the paint with duct tape.

What I was going to do was to remove all the old paint with tape (I know, I know) but I was advised my a local eaa guy not to..

anyone else have any suggestions??

The aircraft is finished superbly and I want to try to avoid removing any filler.

Hangar Flying / O-200 engine/C-85 pistons

Ok whats the deal with putting C-85 pistons in the O-200 to increase the compression.. I got a C-85 piston from a friend to compare with my pistons(O-200) and the C-85 has a bigger bore!! ,, to me it looks like about a 16th of an inch..

When doing the C-85 piston mod, do you have to use the C-85 cylinders as well??

Any imput would be great as I'm on a quest for more power!!

Hangar Flying / Formation with an RV-3

Anyone flown with an RV-3?

I met up with a guy on new years day and man was it fast!!   He lives about 350 miles from me so I havent had a chance to talk to him but I was very suprised with the speed of that spam can!!
