Hangar Flying / So I want to build... BUT
« on: August 19, 2013, 03:04:01 PM »
Hey guys.

So I want to build a canard. (still undecided on which). The best speed/fuel efficiency really intrigues me.
BUT... I do not feel comfortable with my knowledge on composites and what it takes to build. I have done a TON of reading on the forums.
Talked to a lot of people, but I still dont understand completely whats going on. I would like to get some hands on experience somehow.

Any ideas? Any good build threads websites that would help?
Still feel in over my head if I were to get a project or something.

Thanks,
Jamie Hicks

Can someone enlighten what to look for in the wing fittings on the varieze's? Will all varieze's go bad at some point?
Are they safe?

Hangar Flying / Best way to transport a Project?
« on: October 07, 2012, 08:26:54 PM »
Hey guys,

I am thinking of buying a project. Will a Long EZ with the strakes and wings built fit in a enclosed trailer?
How would you transport an airframe? Whats the distance from strake tip to strake tip? and length of each wing?

Thanks,
Jamie

Hangar Flying / What was it like?
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:05:37 PM »
Question, when you first got to fly in an EZ was it everything you thought it would be???

I have never been in one, just wondering if I would like it as much as I am thinking.

Hangar Flying / Anyone in Ohio/Indiana/Michigan???
« on: October 20, 2010, 01:03:41 PM »
Hi,

I live in Ohio where I am going to school. I would like to see some more canards in person. Unfortunately I missed Rough River.
I love the canards and will own one some day, but I have never even sat in one. I am questioning whether I would like them as much as I do now. Also if I would fit.

Im 6'2" 230lbs.

If anyone would be willing to show me there EZ I would love to look at it.

Hangar Flying / How does finishing a project work?
« on: October 20, 2010, 12:57:33 PM »
I am thinking of looking for a project to finish, but I have a few questions. I want to get a project that I can get my name on.

Few things

How does it work if you buy a project that is mostly mid way through to almost finished?

What about a refurbishing project, one that has been flying but is stripped down to nothing and is being redone?
How would I go about finishing it legally, and can I become the repairman on it?

thanks,
Jamie

Hangar Flying / Varieze sitting in Fremont, Ohio
« on: July 24, 2010, 09:18:22 PM »
Hi,
I flew into fremont ohio... 14G. There is a varieze sitting in the back of one of the gang hangars there. I was told it has been sitting there for a few years. You could tell by the thick layer of dust on it..

Anyone know anything about it? I would like to possibly buy it and get it going.

If anyone has any info please let me know, I would love to talk to the owner.

N number is N60HZ

Thanks,

Hangar Flying / Hello
« on: November 19, 2009, 11:25:12 AM »
Hi Everyone,

Its time I said hello! I am a big fan of the Canards. My flying experience isnt like most of you guys that are aeronautical engineers, or airline pilots... But everyone has to start somewhere. Im 19 years old, and have been flying all my life (my dad was a pilot). I got my license last Aug 08. Around 150TT to this day, flying a Club Cherokee 140.

I have been doing a lot of research, and reading the forums carefully. I am wanting a Long EZ, but been considering a Varieze because of cost. Im 6'2" 230-240lbs. My heart is set on a Long Ez just whether or not I will find what I want for the price i can afford will be the question.

Just been reading more than posting. Trying to find all I can. Wish I could find some more in person to see. I have yet to get to sit in one or go up in one. But I know I will make me want one even more.

I want a Long ez for the performance. Being able to fly to florida, and go FAST, and good cost. Plus I like the looks too. I hate flying something everyone else has. The canards are like exotic sports cars.

If anyone is in Ohio/Michigan/Indiana area that has a Long Ez or a Canard. I would love to come and see it!!!
