Title: LEZ Gross Weight
Post by: gnehc on October 15, 2010, 12:31:29 PM
I read CP24 list LEZ Gross Weight as 1325. I've a seller list it as 1600. So, was there a change sometime after CP24? Thank you. Bill

No change....the max takeoff weight is 1425.  Several operate above that and do well.  Someone will have to help me here, but I think the Cozy III with an O-235 had a max gross of about 1600 with the same gear as the Long EZ.  The landing gear, legality, and runway length requirements are the important factors to consider in my opinion.  If the plane has more power than an O-235, you can probably scratch runway length off the list.

I guess welcome to the world of experimental aircraft. The numbers are a guideline not a hard rule. If one can load it up and the gears don't break and the runway is long enough for takeoff then all is well. Maybe only other thing to do is to have a way to dump fuel if for some reason one has to return to land ;D
