Help with Long EZ
« on: July 05, 2006, 03:29:03 PM »
:?: I have had a customer bring in a Long EZ that needs abit of TLC.  I need to get some vortex generators, Right hand nav /strobe light platic cover, information as to what type of resin and cloth is used in the cowling and wings.  Is there any published  delamination allowed in the cowling and or the wing area in the engine compartment?  Seems as if the exhaust heated up the lower cowling and wing root area at some time in its 1300 plus hours.  Thanks Keith

The longez plans has a section that deals with delams along with the appropriate types of repairs.

The wing roots need to be sealed off so that no air gets through them.

Cowl resin is not critical---I would use West since it is most handy.  Wing repairs should properly be made with the resin (or its replacements) as called out in the plans---but then it matters as to what part of the wing you are repairing.
