Title: really stupid question about nose gear
Post by: mwilli7119 on June 28, 2005, 11:35:32 AM
Once again, sorry for wasting your time but I had rather admit up front that I am a newbie than die later on by pretending to be something that i am not.
Yesterday, I removed the spring strut from my VEZe projects nose gear for cleaning and replacment of the O ring.
On the AN bolt attaching the strut to the retract mechanism there was one spacer on one side of the bearing and only washers on the other side. I have looked in my plans and it appears that there is only washers called for there (on both sides).
Can't find anything in Canard Pushers.
Is this right? Am I missing something? And by the way. Is there an easy way to re-compress the spring?

If the Varieze spring is like the Longez and Cozy, just attach the spring to the retract mechanism, then partially (or fully---whatever works) retract the gear. Then rotate the leg with your hand and reattach the spring----no compression necessary.
