Transportation of Varieze overseas
« on: May 31, 2009, 08:29:31 PM »
Hi All,
I am from Perth Western Australia  and want to ship a Varieze from Los Angeles to where I live. Most of the details have been worked out except those 20 feet of moving the a/c into a shipping container. Is there any one on the forum who can do this, or know of someone? Please give details and costs. You can email me,
normanstokes@hotmail.com., if you prefer.

Thanks
Norm

Los Angeles is a big place.  What city is it in.  We have lots of canard people here and one person who does this but before we could think about it we need more details.

Actually the Varieze I am considering right now is in Wyoming and can be flown to the LA area as required.

Another way to ship it is to use a roll on, roll off ship that they ship cars on.  I shipped my Longez back from Germany and only had some small dings in the paint.  I removed the wings and stayed to watch how it was tied down..

Thanks Juan,
Maybe I can arrange to have the plane tied on top of a big truck going  LA to Perth. There may not be any extra fee to the shipping company but just tip the owner of the truck. Anybody sending a truck to Australia? In your case, where did they tie down the wings?

They tied the wings down on either side and to the floor under the airplane.

If the Vari is flown to Whiteman Field there is a guy here thats done the container thing a couple of times.  I don't know how much he charges but if you get it here I'm sure he is good at this.
Let me know if you are coming to Whiteman Field.  It is 5 miles north of Burbank.
