Speed brake

I have a couple of questions to those who use the electric speed brakes.

How fast are they to deploy? 1 second, 2, 3 or more?

How much force is needed to push the speed brake down.

I am looking at some linear motors.

There is a speedbrake kit out there, but the price is close to $500.

A 4" stroke linear motor can be had for $120 w/limit switches but the time and force needs to be reconciled.

I have the unit offered by Ken Miller. It takes about  8 to 10 seconds to extend or retract.  

I'm not sure about the amount of force required, the linear actuator he uses is more than adequate to handle it.

I have my landing gear hydraulic pump removed right now, when I get it reinstalled this weekend, I'll do a short video of the gear and speed brake retracting. When I select "EMERGENCY RETRACT" my controller commands the main gear, nose gear, and speed brake to all retract.
