lyc o235l2c torque spec for pan & accy case
« on: December 05, 2007, 08:56:11 AM »
I was checking bolt security on my lyc o235l2c and some of the pan and accessory case bolts do not seem tight enough.  My overhaul manual does not have torque specs for these bolts.  Can someone help with these torque specs:  Pan, Accessory case, fuel pump, oil screen housing, alternator bracket case attachment bolts.  Thanks, John.

Where can I find these torque specifications?

Hi John

You should have enough paperwork from Lycoming to answer that
yourself.   Lycoming sells a publication called "Service Table of Limits
and Torque Value Recommendations".    You may be able to download
it for free.   Look for SSP 1776 (that may be superseded as mine is
dated 4/30/79)

ANYWAY  The case uses 1/4" bolts, I believe.   1/4" bolts are torqued
to 96 inch pounds.   See page 1-37 in SSP 1776

Also in SSP 1776 look on page 1-34 and 1-35 to see references 904,
906, 907, 915, 916, 919, and 920 for other torque values which may
be useful.

You also need Service Letter No. L114AM which lists some important
publications such as Operator's Manuals, Overhaul Manuals, Parts
catalogs, Special Service Publications, etc.

Thanks Bruce, I will get SSP 1776.  My overhaul manual has service limits, but contains no torque values.  Thanks again, John
