baggage pods

I have seen several Varieze's with baggage pods. Without getting into a discussion of weight etc. are these the same pods that a Longeze uses or are they designed just for a Varieze?

Each pod comes in four pieces, You need to fabricate the wing mounting cuff, then put it all together. Good weekend project.

Hi James,

No, I don't have a website up and running yet. But, I have been selling
baggage pods for years. Recently, however, I have built a new set of molds that
allows me to produce them in the QUICK BUILD version. In the past, they were
available as a KIT that required assembling halves into a pod. Then you
progressed into mating them to the airplane. Plus, the old molds were rough,
and the parts required a lot of finish work. Now, they come assembled, and the
finished work is greatly diminished. The pod design is not new - but the kit
is improved.

The INTRODUCTORY price is $750 plus $45 S&H.

Just how useful are these baggage pods, if you are taking 2-3 day trips with the plane?

In practical terms, how much "stuff" can you put in them?

Do the handling characteristics change noticeably with them on?

I don't have pods (wouldn't mind having some though----but I have priorities elsewhere), but I can pack a longez for two for a week.  I pack my travel duffle bag with clothes is large ziplock bags.  When I get to the plane, I unload the ziplocks into the spar and the rear cockpit headrest area.  The wings get  packed and my wife stuffs a small duffle in the area underneath her knees.  Not really a problem---but you do have to be creative---baggage pods should simplify things.  If you need things to be nice and flat (like a tux or a dress-----done that one too), you can put it between the frontseat cusion and the frontseat bulkhead.
