Hangar Flying / Newbie

Hi all,
I live in SE Florida and saw one of these EZ planes for the first time. I'm very intrigued by them. Are these fairly stable planes to fly or are they just too much for a newly minted pilot? If I were interested in buying one of these, how would I know that the workmanship was upheld to a certain standard? Is there an unbiased resident expert who would be willing to look at a plane?
