Don't ever skip the runup checks. Have had three failures of Lightspeed in 200 hours, all showed up at runup. Cheap components. Replacements seem fine.

First was the II+ ignition unit itself. Returned to the maanufacturer and came back working fine with the comment that there was nothing wrong with it..... Then the plug into the hall effect module. Cheap computer type plug and receptacle. Not the kind of thing to have in the engine compartment of an airplane. Even automotive applications use better parts. I understand the crank sensor is a better application but have not seen it or it's components. Others have had grief with the guts of certain models of the ignition boxes themselves but those may have been worked out by now. Two of three failures resulted in cancelled trips and inconvenience to others as well. The third resulted in a half day spent working in 100 degrees and high humidity in the middle of the country on a trip. Everyone in the canard world seems thrilled with these products but there has been more failure reporting among the RV crowd. Almost as many as the E-mag products. But then they are not so "in awe" of the manufacturer. Good Luck.
