Hangar Flying / Static charge in IMC & effects on avionics/autopilots/EF

I'm looking in earnest at creating a new panel and avionics data "environment" for our Defiant.
Has anyone had or heard of any issues in IMC with any of your new EFIS's/AHRS/autopilots/electronics going south or wavering a bit due to static issues in our composite aircraft? I've heard the story of the time one of the guys felt sparks and tingles, but what about the run-of-the-mill IMC stormy day and its effects? Any possible fixes if that is the case? Any way to improve the ground plane if necessary?
Also, is anyone using the VistaNav product and can give a thumbs up or down? Preferred mountings, etc.?
