Wanted - A Pattern for Sewing a Custom Cover for my Varieze
(1/1)
mikeydidit98:
My mother is a seamstress and has graciosuly offered to sew a custom cover for my new plane - N6553C, a '92 Varieze. Does anyone know where I can find such a pattern?
Thank you.

My wife made me one out of ripstock nylon. She just pinned it up right on the bird and then took it home to sew up. May work for you.

Mike,
I bought a cover from Herb Sanders a long time ago and it is only good for a pattern any more. The cover was stored and started sticking together and is no longer usable since it was sticking to the plane. Not too long ago I put it on my plane to show someone what it looked like and how it fit and it started to stick to the canopy, etc.
Originally except for the canard cover, it was all one piece which I didn't like. So I cut the cover into three pieces left and right wings and the fuselage. I used some of the material from the canard coverr to make extra pieces to extend the wing sections and for strapping so that I could velcro and tie the wing cover on when I wanted.
I have a cover of similar silver material for my motorhome that I have thought of using for the plane someday. However, I think I payed quite a bit for the cover for the motorhome and have not really used the EZ cover but a few times, so am hesitant to use it. My EZ cover should be able to be mailed for less than ten dollars since it is not very heavy.
