Title: fuel and oil lines

hey guys

    I would like to know what is the consensus on the best hose to use for

fuel and oil cooler lines. stratoflex? aeroquip ? fabricate my own, or have

the lines fabricted complete with firesleeve by a supplier? please let me

know your experences.

I can't tell you what to do but I can tell you what I did. I made up my own using the raw hose and fittings. It wasn't all that hard.
The advantage to this is you can measure twice and cut once and then if it is still wrong and you ordered more hose than you need, you just go ahead and make it again.

I think I used Aeroquip

Rutan specifies soft aluminum tubing (1100-0).

Has anyone had problems with this tubing developing stress cracks over time?  

Is there a better choice (braided tubing, etc)?

Opps, you're right Charles

I did use soft aluminum tubing as per plans.

I ran this all the way back to the gascolator and then a short piece to the
electric fuel pump. From there I wanted something a little more flexable coming off the firewall to the mechanical pump and then to the carb.

Vibration you know.

I check these tubings closely during the condition inspection. No evidence of any kind of problems on the aluminum tubing. The Aeroquip is starting to get a little hard and will be replaced soon with "fresher" rubber

Total time = 20 years

What I am realy looking for is info on
 on the plans called out aeroquip 303 hose.
601 , or  stratoflex lines.
