In a way. I have an intake system that allows me to switch from filter to a ram air intake with a lever in the cockpit. Filter for take off, then gear up and switch to Ram air. The ram tube sits in the intake scoop and has only a mesh (screen room type ) in it, vs a standard paper filter on the other  side. I use a heat valve set up to switch. I get an obvious power boost when I switch.

I believe the cozygirls have one. I have that engine, and I used a standard  Long ez  mount that came with my project, and then bought the correct ring from ACS, and had a welder modify the mount. Flying 2 yrs without problems. I did have to fabricate (on a harbor freight lathes) some mount inserts. No big problem though. good engine.

Hangar Flying / New alternator needed.

There was an alternator thread or info here somewhere that discussed a Toyota alternator option. Mine is toast, diodes burned out (my fault) and apparently is an oddball alt. no one will take as a core. Unknown type or brand.  So...need a new source that dosen't break the bank. I have external rectifier, a Zeftronics. Suggestions?? I know several car options with external regulators are out there. For a Lycoming IO-320 engine on a Long.

I believe I will measure actual current through the switch and compare to rating. Data to follow for info to others.

Hangar Flying / Need for master relay

The above is all true and known. For my larger loads, gear, landing brake, trim motors, I built individual relay controllers. The power source still comes from the breakers, fed through the master switch though. My question is more asking if the relay has been found to solve any found issues relating to master switch falure? I have heard of none.
I can put one in, just like to ask as each added componant adds weight.

I read and search the internet and groups such as ours and occasionally find out about things I hadn't considered. I ran my electrical bus feeds from the battery through a master auto reset CB then to a master switch to the regular CB's. Now I find out about "master relays" and wonder....should I have put one of these in, and why?" I can still do it, but wonder if its worth it. My loads are fairly light, master switch expected to handle the current. Don't see one in the plans. What is the purpose and benefit?

Many thanks to Terrell Yon, who send me (darned fast) templates and plans for my Vortilons. He apparently dosen't want them back, so I will keep a copy and forward to anyone else who might need them.

I'd be happy to make my own. I don't have access to the "official" CP's, only the web versions that do not have the patterns.
I would appreciate any assistance with this. I expect they have "some" flexibility of shape, but position, approx size should be reasonable.
I'm getting ready to paint the wings so its time to do this.

I was a similar case. I had long given up the thought of owning/building, yet after finding a new (decent) wife, here I am. 48 yo and near finishing. I bought a used Long that had most of the major fabrication done, leaving me the controlls, engine, avionics et al. It still is taking a year or two, but I would advise you finding an abandoned or mostly built project and save much effort. I got mine for $8000 with a bunch of parts in boxes. There are others out there. Support from my wife was a huge help, but my funds were my equity line on the house. I started from nothing 3 times over, so no big $$ in my bank. I'm leaving my 401K alone. I just keep driving the old car and my bike, and buying parts as I go. None of us are getting younger, and the payoff will be us living our dream together. She's 100% behind it.
