what was the finish like on the original Rutan veri or Long?  How scrupulous was the master with finh?

I never saw the proto Varieze, but 79RA was straight and true with pretty good surfacing. Mike had a lot/most/all to do with 79RA construction,  so I'd expect nothing less.
