John Waiter this is for you. I bought a E-mag and a P-Mag and went to install them on my Long-EZ but they were to long , come to find out that you can unbolt the coil from the mag and mount the coil by itself. I did and I am very pleased with the system, Will tell you more later. Frank T.

COOL, When I bought mine, the guy at E-Mag told me that. I'm not sure if I'll have to do it. The E-Mag is exactly the same depth as the Bendix mag, and I have 1/2 inch clearance to the firewall. I'll know better when I hang the engine back on.
Did it take a special cable?

I have just fitted and flight tested a "P" Mag. Here are some installation points. If you are replacing an impulse mag you will need the Mag drive gear from a non impusle(E-Mag sell them a lot cheaper than Lycoming) The mag retaining studs have to be replaced with shorter ones. If you are running an electronic tach,it may need a 2K pullup resistor, I am using a Jeff Rose tach and it neeed one. Mine went in on a LongEZ with a O-235 Lyc. and there is 0.5" clearance to the firewall.I am using Auto Plug leads off the coils. A well made product with an excellent installation manual. I now need some good weather to put some hours on it. Easyrider

I'm replacing the Impulse mag. Got a gear from The E-Mag folks.
I was a little concerned about the drop out point of the P mag, so I opted for an E vs a P. I have a small "Aux" battery that automatically isolates itself. This will drive the 2nd Electronic Ignition full time.
Thanks for the tips, I should be starting in that area in a few weeks. I Got to get the gear hydralics connected up first.
