Hangar Flying / Re: Transportation of Varieze overseas

If the Vari is flown to Whiteman Field there is a guy here thats done the container thing a couple of times.  I don't know how much he charges but if you get it here I'm sure he is good at this.
Let me know if you are coming to Whiteman Field.  It is 5 miles north of Burbank.

Los Angeles is a big place.  What city is it in.  We have lots of canard people here and one person who does this but before we could think about it we need more details.

The membership is in my wifes name as we both are on the e-mail address.  I log in a bit but must to the Hangar flying and Wanted/Forsale posts.  I do like that part of this but I don't post to the forum side.

Hangar Flying / Re: What system to use?
« on: March 13, 2009, 05:44:21 AM »
I don't know of anyone who uses the West System for the STRUCTURE part of the wings or any other structure part of the Canards.  Most that I know use EZ poxy, Aero poxy, MGS. However West is good for small parts and finish work.  You will need a long pot life for big parts ie wings fuselage etc.
I'm no expert in this but I do love EZ Poxy as it works well.
Good Luck

Hangar Flying / Re: How many hours to complete a Long Ez?

I would make a few of the first parts and then ask this question again. You can then judge the answers.  Not to kill the party but you are facing some real problems being so far away from the STUFF you need in building.  If you have white hair then buy a project already going and if you are less than 30 go for it.
The building is fun.

First of all you need to determine the correct epoxy for structures and for non-structure.  This is critical in wings, spars, landing gear, center section and lots of the fuselage.  The ratio of hardner to resin are very different.  I would go with those recommended by the plans as I'm not a chemist.
Good luck and be sure to join central states as its the only source for the latest news and safety stuff. Also subscribe to Canard Aviators the internet group.

My wife made me one out of ripstock nylon.  She just pinned it up right on the bird and then took it home to sew up. May work for you.
