Thanks for the reply
I am looking to decrease pitch change in rain.
Where did you position the VG's and what type did you use?

I know this has been a topic many times.
I am considering putting V.G's on my canard.
I have a LongEZ with a GU canard.
I am considering V.G's instead of the more costly alternative of a Roncz.
What's the trade off?

Hangar Flying / K&N Filter
« on: February 17, 2005, 01:16:45 PM »
The Hal Hunt & the Van's cold air box mod. use K&N filters.
I used to motor race vintage formula junior cars and I used twin K & N filters on the twin choke webbers I had fitted. There was no difference in performance with them on & off and they did a great job keeping out dust and gravel when I spun off.
The cleaning kit restores them to new.

Hangar Flying / TCP
« on: February 17, 2005, 01:09:38 PM »
I was using TCP in Avgas for my LongEZ with a Lyc 0-235 L2C to try and cut back on lead fouling of the bottom plugs.
When I had my annual I was told by the inspector that you should not use this additive in composite fuel tanks.
Does anyone know if this is correct?

Hangar Flying / rpm pickup

I am running a Jeff Rose Tach with Jeff Rose Electronic on the bottom plugs and Slick impulse on the top. The Tach runs fine. It is also accurate, I ran the original mechanical tach in parallel for several hours and the readings were the same.

Hangar Flying / Is O-235 the preferred engine?
« on: January 11, 2005, 05:53:14 PM »
I purchased a LongEZ in Nov.2003. It is a very well built aircraft and I have had 200 hrs of wonderful flying, but it weighs in at 970 lbs.
I fly at max weight every time I take a passenger and the O-235 is just about at it's limit in getting out of short strips at high density altitudes.
Definately go for a O-320/O-360 it will make a great aircraft even better.
