I've been watching the progress on the Raptor (www.Raptor-Aircraft.com)
Check out the blog entries.

Last September they were talking about the building they had acquired to start the project.
Last week they had the lower fuselage done and had the pressure bulkheads in place.
I was pretty skeptical at first glance but they are serious about this and appear to have the funding to bring it to market.
