Title: Head Up Display & Fuel Injection/Elect. Ignition
Post by: EZ Pilot on June 19, 2005, 08:10:45 PM
Has anyone encountered or considered a small Head Up Display that might be connected to one of the EFIS systems? I've read of people converting the simple automobile HUDs, but am a bit challenged with the programming? It might not give a huge advantage because the instrument panel is right in your face already, but the cool factor is certainly there.
Also, has anyone used the Simple Digital Systems combination Fuel Injection/Electronic Ignition system on a Lycoming Engine?
Just a few things I've been considering (ok, day-dreaming about).

I have a small H.U.D for my long ez with a video "box" I guess I would call it that. It accepts all types of video inputs it was made by hughes aircraft they where supposed to be used in police cars to project the info of the driver that they just pulled over on the windshield so the officer could keep an eye on the driver. The only problem I may run into is that the projector is lcd which is great but in the sun it may wash out. The H.U.Ds in the military jets are a laser projection so direct sunlight won't wash it out as bad.
Hope this helps.

I have SDS EFI on my Varieze, Lightspeed ignition and electric water pump (water cooled RW100). Been working on the conversion for about a year and getting closer to making some noise. LOVE fuel injection.
