Title: Brake lines

Whats the word on the use of aluminum for brake lines? Like 3003-O it flexes well and takes heat well.

I am not very expert but I think aluminum tubing will not take
the bending when the gear flexes.   The standards are
(1) nyloseal   (2) stainless steel

Stainless is quite expensive but you can make a heat-proof
system with very few parts.   1/8" tubing is used.

Nyloseal is much cheaper but must be protected from heat
and UV light.   There was a discussion on canard-aviators@
yahoogroups.com on protecting nyloseal from heat.   The
emails are archived but I don't know how to retrieve them.

There is quite a bit of archive information concerning EZ brake systems.  You may be able to find what you are looking for there.  I have the original Nyloseal lines and they have proven to work quite well.

I do get the two types of brake lines confused and sometimes innerchanged. However, checking the Aircraft Spruce Catalog again, I see that the Varieze used NYLAFLOW nylon tubing for the brakes and rudder cables. It seems that the LongEz did start with the Nylo-seal but was it was later recommended to go to the NYLAFLOW.
Anyhow, I can recommend the NYLAFLOW as a great brake line and should be protected from heat and sunlight.
If any of you who have previously listed supporting Nylo-seal tubing, you may want to re-check which you really are using and are reccommending.

I would stay away from 'any' products that starts with "Nylo."   Sooner or later  it will need replacing.  Consider investing in some teflon hoses and forget about your brake lines for a long while.

No need to take it personal. The ones that have the future problem witth the wrong material can do that.
