Hangar Flying / Re: What does your cockpit panel looks like???

Work in progress - here's my first go at the panel on my Vez refurb project. Still have to add the switches, breakers, and lights then a nice finish.

I've looked at that before - looks like a pretty ingenious design....But, I'm looking to have trim authority and not 'reset' the stick to a new neutral position.  i.e. have trim IN while still having full travel both directions of the stick.  I will research further though - thanks!

Hangar Flying / Roll Trim Servo
« on: October 03, 2012, 08:18:12 AM »
Anybody still flying a VEZ with the KPS-15II trim servo in the wing?  My refurb project had no electric trim, so I'm about to install one.  I came across a working servo, but am curious about the 3rd (signal) wire...plans and drawings only show the simple +/- servo wires and the DPDT switch.

Not sure how I should proceed ....or maybe consider the newer RAC servo(?).

Thoughts?

Hangar Flying / EZ Folks: Rate Your Trip To Oshkosh!

A quick poll to get some discussions going.  NOT sponsored by, or reported to, the EAA folks, strictly informal.

I have my own opinions but will leave it up to you to vote based on yours.

Great to talk to you about the process of building that beautiful bird - and to get a re-hack on the motivation to get mine DONE , well at least into the air!

Look forward to many more trips and visits with good friends and awesome airplanes...

True!

That AOA is the 'Critical Angle of Attack'-

A fixed-wing aircraft, by definition, is stalled at or above this critical angle of attack, not at or below a particular airspeed.

The airspeed at which the aircraft the stalls varies with the weight of the aircraft, the load factor, bank angle, the center of gravity of the aircraft, etc.

However...the aircraft always stalls at the same critical angle of attack.

Well folks, I'm getting close the point where  I narrow down what to use to coat my Varieze re-furb project.  I've received bits of advice here and there about what to use to prime and paint it, and am curious about what the masses are primarily going with.

She was flown by the builder in early primer alone, and a lot of that has been sanded down pretty far since.  The filler (mircro) has been excellent, and I'm about to the point where I need to pick out what I'm going to go with.

There's several brilliant whites to go with out there, urethane included - but I'm planning on flying it a bit in the 'naked' primer (UV blocking, obviously) while all the bugs get worked out.

Please let me know what you used to both prime and paint your birds, and how they've held up over the years.

Thanks and fly safe!

Thanks, Bill...

Any bit of visualization is added motivation for me to stick to the project!

I'm interested in seeing those photos.  My VEZ is also in the 'static inverted' position right now.  Hopefully not much longer!

Can you post them here?  If not, please email to

brian_strack@hotmail.com

Thanks and good luck!
