Nice to see you successfully conquered this obstacle.  
The problem that would concern me regarding moving the mounts on the plane to match the engine mount is that if you ever sold the plane or got a different engine / mount,  the plane would now not match the normal mounts ! !   Glad you got her fixed ! !

For Sale/Wanted / Elect. Ignition

I've got the "Lightspeed"  Electronic ignition on my bird. - From Klaus Savier. (sp?).  The plane has about 70 hrs on it but seems to run great with this system.  The plugs that came in it were   Denso W27ESR-U,  but after consulting with Klaus, because I have high compression pistons, (9.5 - 1),  he recommended that I switch to the   Denso W27EMR-C.  I bought 8 plugs from him. Don't remember the price.  Remember that it was more than automotive,  but seemed very reasonable to me at the time.

You puttin'  us all to shame ! !  :oops:   That is certainly what I had in mind.  I thought the bird I bought just needed a few finishing touches, . .but whoa . . .like some major rework man ! !   I was hopin' to have 600 hours in 4 1/2 years too.  Like Mr. James says,  the best thing to have on your EZ  is . . . .BUG  GUTS ! !

I said the same thing.  In retrospect, . . .I wish I'd bought the one I had a ride in, . . .rather than this thing I've been working on for two years ! !

Gettin' close though.  Hopefully this summer.  I can't wait ! !

Hey Brit guy,

Can't wait to see your pics.   Send or attach them as soon as you can.

My panel is done now too but for a few lighting details.  Working on oil heat now and carb heat next.  Then reconfigure exhaust and then rebaffle for downdraft cooling.  Want to put my landing light in the nose, and then some work on the gear fairings,  and then Paint ! !

Waiter or Drew,

I'm about to tackle hookin' up my oil lines to my second oil cooler under the GIB thigh support.  I bought the aluminum lines you specified (Waiter) from Spruce,  and I remember you telling me that the flare angles for aviation were different than for automotive.   I have a couple questions.

1) Can I still use automotive fittings and flares ?  Heavier ?

2)  I plan to use flex lines from the engine to the firewall and solid lines after that.  How do I anchor / transition at the firewall ?

Somewhere on the web I found a pic of an ez jammed into the back of a U-Haul truck.  They had built a form to hold it in place.  It looked secure, but also a lot of work.  

I think if you raise up one strake you should be fine.

Boy can I relate to that ! !   I hate seeing my bird in the garage and wish I were flying it.  I had a chance to buy a different one that was really in flying condition, but I passed on it.  Now I'm kicking myself.  ( That's what all those bruises are from ! !  ).   :lol:

It's good to hear you have a handle on how long it'll take.  You have a realistic idea.  Hope you can find a " professional ".

Have you ever heard of the phrase  "  95 % done and 95 % to go ?  

You may think you are only 5 %  away from done, . .but what you mentioned you have left to do could take months / years !  !   I don't want to burst your bubble,  but I'm afraid it's more realistic than you may realize.  Getting help might be a good idea,  but you must then try to control quality and cost.  I'd imagine there may be some out there to help, but I don't know of anyone.   You might try to find Ray Parker in the Cincinnati area.  He's an A & P  and is familiar with the EZ's.  Also possibly contact Terry Schubert with CSA association.  He might steer you in the right direction. You could possibly peruse the membership roster.
