Hangar Flying / New buyer/looker am I
« on: August 11, 2006, 07:08:23 PM »
Hi, Britguy

I have struggled with the question of how to learn to fly a Longeze.

My opinion:   If you have flown a few Cozies, you should be able
to fly a Varieze or Longeze.   Ask some Cozy owners for some help.
I got several rides in a Cozy and do not find it too hard to manage.

At least 2 pilots will train you but you pay for the training:
(1) Curt Smith in Iowa   (2) Burrell Sanders in Colorado

I have flown with both and highly recommend both.    :D

Hangar Flying / Adding pass. strake windows
« on: July 13, 2006, 06:57:57 AM »
I did a retrofit without much directions and I did not (don't now)
know much about building.

A problem I had:   The fiberglass around the window has to have
some finite thickness.   That means that the window will be recessed
or you have to have a way to carve a flange on the plexiglass.   I
had no way to do that so my window is recessed.   This is not very
good aerodynamically.    Maybe I can fix that someday.

You need to use a thick piece of plexiglass and find a way to carve
some of it away along the edges to make the surface flush with
the underside of the wing.   There may be a tool somewhere to do that.

I still don't know. :(

Hangar Flying / Keeping your feet warm on long trips in the winter
« on: July 12, 2006, 07:53:15 PM »
D cells have VERY little chemical/electrical energy compared to
what you need to keep your feet warm.   The only practical way
to warm your feet is from the 12 V battery or from heat brought
from the engine by a good oil or hot air distribution system.

Hello Jack

Are you a CSA member?   Just look in the directory.   If you are not
a CSA member, you should be; you will get a lot out of membership-
4 newsletters + a directory + a few flyins + dinner at OSH.   Check
this website for more information.

OK, Sisco   I have to apologize.   I DO enjoy reading the emails on
your website.

I guess I missed your earlier email; as I said, I am too busy to read all
of the email; have not been on CanardZone in a month or more.

I read canard-aviators@Yahoogroups.....  first because I am asking for
help, very often.

I am looking forward to your "NEW" website whenever it comes off.

In the meantime I am planning to invest my life savings in a deal from
a Nigerian General who needs my account # to move his money.

I heard about a good investment in stock also......

Hi, Noel and the Group

I have 4 websites to check daily.   I don't have the time to check all 4.
Have been ignoring one of them for a month.

If the person or people who own this website want to chase readers away,
they should continue with the present "easy for spammers" attitude to
continue.

You will see me on "canard-aviators" regularily.   The other 3 - maybe.

Thanks for deleting the crap.

Noel:   You should not have to put up with 100 messages in 10 days.

I don't know what captcha is but it should be on, if it would help.

Also could we have everyone renew their passwords and do it in such
a way that all those spam artists are cut out (because they know
NOTHING about our aircraft).

Noel, that is wonderful; at least you can get rid of the crap after the
posting.   You made my day.

Thank you, Sisco, for whatever you have done in the past to keep the
crap off this site.   It is very obvious that a lot comes in.   The users
like me did not know that.

Please, please - erase all of the accumulated garbage and get the site
set so we get no more.   I am ready to leave permanently.

Thanks.   :D

Clearly it is time to SEVERELY restrict access to this website.

ANY new participants should be required to give a legitimate address,
telephone number, aircraft registration (exceptions could be made it
you don't have an aircraft but you would have to provide recommendations
from existing members).

I would expect the registration process to include approval by a 3
member screening committee or some such.

We really should get serious about excluding the spam.

Garbage that is put on the site should be immediate removed.

Don't we have a moderator?    I spend most of my available time on
Yahoogroups which does have a moderator.     Yahoogroups does
not get this garbage.

Gilbert:

Can we assume that you are using shielded cable to supply 12 V to
both instruments?   I am not certain of the value of capacitor(s) to use
but they should help.   I am guessing that something in the microfarad
size would be enough.

It would help very much if you tell us where you live;   there
may be a Varieze builder near you.   I am sorry but my plans are
for the Longeze.
