Hangar Flying / Trucking a Long-EZ?
« on: April 07, 2013, 10:32:08 AM »
In theory, let's say I need to haul my Long-EZ home via truck & trailer. How would someone do this? Removing the wings and canard would be step one but would a auto hauler, 18 foot flat bed truck with hydraulics to lower the bed to the ground, work? I'm confident in my bird just planning some long distant trips and thinking "what if"! :o

Hangar Flying / Wings & Wheels Evansville, IN - Oct 13, 10-3 pm
« on: October 07, 2012, 11:31:18 AM »
This is a nice aircraft and hotrod event here in Evansville (KEVV) on Saturday, Oct 13, from 10-3. Last year we had a nice showing of canard aircraft, everything from my Long-EZ to a Vari-EZ, Velocity, Cozy!

Hope to see you there!  :D

Hangar Flying / Long-EZ engine mount cracks
« on: April 10, 2012, 08:01:54 AM »
My EZ was in for it's condition inspection and we found two cracks in the engine mount, actually the tube on one wasn't just cracked but broken. Both were hard to see, obscured by baffling. My EZ has 1400 TTSN and is babied by me, no aerobatics and has a Lycoming 0-320. Luckily, my CI is being done by the Robert & Valerie Harris (EZ Jet fame) and they're repairing the mount to better than new condition.

What may have caused this?

I pride myself on closely inspecting the engine during oil changes between CI but evidently not close enough!

Hangar Flying / Jacking a Long-EZ
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:30:29 AM »
Here's a simple way to raise a EZ to remove a wheel, took 3 2x4 and 1x4 blocks. I've heard everyone talking about how easy this but never a picture. Be careful to not place the blocks under the breaks. This really was easy! Other options, include pics.

Hangar Flying / Seat cushions
« on: May 05, 2010, 02:46:12 PM »
Alright, I'm burning up the discussion forum these days...
Where's the best place to purchase/order new seat cushions for Long-Ezs? I know some good sources for foam but I'm looking for the covers. Blue skies!  ::)

Hangar Flying / Exhaust Insulating Wrap
« on: May 04, 2010, 08:42:20 PM »
Has anyone tried insulating/wrapping the headers and exhaust to reduce heat on the cowling of Long-EZs using a product like this from Thermo-Tech: http://www.thermotec.com/exhaust-insulating-wrap.html?

Hangar Flying / Replace cabin vent plastic shaft/knob?
« on: April 19, 2010, 05:04:04 AM »
I need to replace the plastic bolt/shaft and knob that opens/closes the cabin vent, located on the canopy in front of the pilot. Any thoughts for where I can find or what to use to fabricate one?
