Title: Front bulkhead foam

I was wondering what foam is used in the front bulkheads on the long ez. I look on spruce and dont see the stuff called for in the plans but im thinking its the 15.6# stuff. Just want to be sure before i buy it.

Yes, that's the stuff. Really pricey. At one time there was a shortage of the correct foam and a CP issue stated that you could substitute a proper grade plywood. You may want to research that option, at least for the instrument panel, before you she'll out $155 a sheet.

FWIW, the Cozy MK IV design specifies .2 inch thick, 18-pound Last-A-Foam (ACS P/N 01-14400) for the IP and the F22 bulkheads. I'd stick with the specified PVC foam (ACS P/N 01-13000, H100, per the MK IV plans) for the NG30's, etc., for durability properties. I used 18-pound Last-A-Foam for my VariEze IP & F22 buklheads (500 hours on the airplane now).

I saw there was a sub foam in the newsletters. I will prob go with that last a foam. Thanks for the input.

LONG-EZ HIGH DENSITY FOAM SUBSTITUTES Due to excessive cost increases, the dark red, 0.2" R250 PV core foam is no longer being used in Long-EZ kits. For a while this summer and fall, 3/16" thick plywood was supplied in its place, We have recently approved a high density urethane/polyester foam (white in color, 18lb/cubic ft density) for this use also. If you receive the white foam it will be in four pieces, 12" x 48" 0.2" thick. This requires a micro joint for the instrument panel and F22. This joint need not be a separate cure, it can cure with the first skin. Regardless of whether you are using the red or white foam or plywood, do not change any of the layups of fiberglass or any of the core carving shown on page 13-5 of plans.

The "new" foam identified in CP 26 was the old Clark foam, which is no longer manufactured. Last-A-Foam of the appropriate thickness and density has replaced the "spec" for Clark Foam.
