Have been out of touch with flying for a year now and can't find my notes and links for a canopy gas strut. Anyone know where to get one, length and strength? Am thousands of miles from the plane so can't see it to figure it out myself. Thanks!

YMMV because it depends on the geometry of the installation but I used the Aircraft Spruce part number 05-01177 in my Long-EZ.

If this is still an open topic. If you get the geometyry sorted then these guys have preloaded gas struts that you "bleed off" until you get just the load value that you need. They ar e based in UK but there must be similar things over there. PG

If you know the force and body length and length extended and retracted, you local RV parts supplier has catalogs of these things to chose from. Fairly reasonably. The "ends" are often replaceable, so if you are replacing one already installed, you can often remove the tips and use a new strut of the right force and size.
