Title: Nose Lifts

For those of you with operating nose lifts what is your routine?
Do you get into the plane and let the lift do it's work or.....
Do you stand outside and and then let it lift up?

I kneel it part way for the passenger, stand up the plane then get in myself. I have read (puffer newsletters?) that there is too much stress on the nose gear for lifting up 400 lbs of pax in the front seat. You could also relieve a lot of the stress by having the gear partially extended prior to lifting anybody.

I am completing a Long EZ and have installed the Wilhelmson nose lift. I have cycled it several times with me on-board and it does just fine. So well in fact, I removed the step. Getting in the plane, I will set the nose about a foot off the ground and then raise it the rest of the way.
I have heard that it may put too much stress on the nose gear of a cozy because of the additional weight of another person in the front.
