I have an iPod playing thru the audio input on the intercom. I like Mozart and Beethoven. There is nothing to compare playing Beethoven's 5th flying over the Sierras and going thru the passes playing Wagner's ride of the valkyries. Easyrider

Until recently I had used my Palm Pilot for tunes. Finally broke down and bought an iPod. It now rides on the left hand arm rest (I have electric brake and trim so the arm rest is empty) within easy reach of my left hand. I, too, have it jacked into the audio panel.
The builder of my plane, Douglas Small, put in an intercom that automatically mutes out the music anytime radio traffic keys up. It also allows me to isolate that feature for the passenger so that they can listen to the music uninterrupted while I conduct radio work. It is a really nice setup.
I can only imagine flying the California Mountains like that. My wife and I left California in 02' and I have missed it every day since. One day I'll move back home...

The best thing for "tunes" in the air is the XM radio through a Garmin 396/496. Over 200 stations, and as low as 6.99. There is a standard headphone plug in the back of the Garmin, it will play XM Radio, and the voice on the Garmin also gives warnings like "Terrain" "sink rate-pull up" "500 feet" etc. Check me out!
