Title: TEMPLATES

Hi everyone. I am considering purchasing a damaged Varieze project. It has the plans, but no templates for cutting the various foam pieces. I am curious why these seem to be thrown away, and where can I obtain replacements.

I am in the middle of a new construction VE. The only template I don't have is for the centersection spar. Let me know what you need and I will see what I can get for you. I have already helped one builder get templates for a VE he is rebuilding out west. Trevor trevorharris@charter.net

I don't think most builders throw them away because they must realize they might have to rebuild someday. I was able to borrow some used templates to repair my canard 2 years ago. I'm sure one of the builders will come forward to help. buddy

I'm not sure if you are aware of this. But if not, this will put some light on your question.
When you recieve the plans and templates, the templates are printed on a large sheet of paper. This paper is then glued to formica, masonite, plywood, or whatever the builder is going to use as the template. The individuel templates are then cut out with a bandsaw, and then sanded until the the profile is exactly matches the lines on the paper. The paper and masonite, now become the template. and iare in essence, consumed.
Rutan warned about copying them, as you could loose size and quality of the original. (Hey, it was 1979/1980)
