Hi Everyone,
Its time I said hello! I am a big fan of the Canards. My flying experience isnt like most of you guys that are aeronautical engineers, or airline pilots... But everyone has to start somewhere. Im 19 years old, and have been flying all my life (my dad was a pilot). I got my license last Aug 08. Around 150TT to this day, flying a Club Cherokee 140.
I have been doing a lot of research, and reading the forums carefully. I am wanting a Long EZ, but been considering a Varieze because of cost. Im 6'2" 230-240lbs. My heart is set on a Long Ez just whether or not I will find what I want for the price i can afford will be the question.
Just been reading more than posting. Trying to find all I can. Wish I could find some more in person to see. I have yet to get to sit in one or go up in one. But I know I will make me want one even more.
I want a Long ez for the performance. Being able to fly to florida, and go FAST, and good cost. Plus I like the looks too. I hate flying something everyone else has. The canards are like exotic sports cars.
If anyone is in Ohio/Michigan/Indiana area that has a Long Ez or a Canard. I would love to come and see it!!!

............. Jamie, One of the best Canard people in the USA lives in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. His name is Terry Schubert and he sends out a quarterly newsletter called the Central States Newsletter. His phone number is 440-826-3055. email: jschuber@juno.com Terry flys a LongEZ, so it looks like he would be the perfect person to visit. So I would recommend emailing or calling him. I have a Varieze that I built in California in 1981 and moved up to Washington State that same year. Good Luck !! We can always use a new Canardian. Wayne Johnson

A couple of things Wayne did not include in the email:
1. The price of the subscription is $30 per year. Best $ you will spend on airplanes. 2. You also get a directory that lists almost 1000 other guys who are flying or building or wanting to build, like you. Over a dozen of them are in Canada, several are not far from you. By studying the directory, you can get a pretty good idea who is flying, who is building, and who is hoping. 3. You get a schedule of upcoming events, which includes the Rough River flying, close to you. 4. Terry also has previous issues, if you want to get a few of those.
BTW Check with the Varieze and Cozy people; 240 lbs is a lot of body to put in a Varieze. I am at 5'7" and 165 lb. The Longeze fits me pretty well but I have to put a false seat behind me as I am so short.
