Title: Carbon Fiber and Titanium
Post by: Anonymous on February 14, 2005, 07:35:19 PM: Does anyone have any industry experience with the use of titanium in a carbon fiber composite layup? Does galvanic corrosion occur similar to that between carbon fiber and aluminum?

Post by: bharvey on February 15, 2005, 12:57:46 PM: The industry accepted practice is to use titanium or corrosion resistant steel (CRES) when a structure will be in contact with a carbon laminant. A superficial layer of glass is sometimes applied over the carbon as a galvanic barrier when using material such as aluminum.
