Hangar Flying

Vari eze for sale with o-200 freshly overhauled, have 8130's for engine, B&C light weight starter, B&C 30 amp alternator. The acft was a flying plane that I had bought, it needed an electrical system, paint was peeling. I sanded the plane down to the glass started to to refill, wings and canard are refilled, fuselage half way done. I installed a NACA engine inlet. Has long ez landing gear plans built acft, have the plans with templates along with new tires and tubes for mains new fuel caps that need to be installed. I've been reading for a couple of years and new to posting here. I had bought a flying vari 5 years ago from the original owners daughter. The vari was in need of electrical upgrades and a new paint job. The original airwortiness certificate was surrended by the daughter to the FAA and the plane is considered destroyed, my bill bill of sale is for parts. I'am an A&P and would like to know what kind of issues can I expect in trying to get an airworthiness certificate when I'm not the builder, any info would greatly appreciated. The plane is currently sanded down to the glass and the motor is in pieces awaiting overhaul.
