Title: Replace cabin vent plastic shaft/knob?
Post by: vdecoster on April 19, 2010, 05:04:04 AM
I need to replace the plastic bolt/shaft and knob that opens/closes the cabin vent, located on the canopy in front of the pilot. Any thoughts for where I can find or what to use to fabricate one?

AIR INLET REPAIR KIT Anyone who has installed a plastic adjustable air inlet kit may have experienced a failure of the operation mechanism that opens and closes the inlet. Damage to the mechanism generally severely limits the operation of the inlet. This repair kit allows the replacement of the opening mechanism and restores the inlet operation to its original intention. We offer a family of NACA Air Inlet Kits manufactured from fiberglass, ABS, or acrylic. The operating mechanism componenets and assemble instructions provided in these complete kits are included in this repair kit. 2 sheets per package.............................................................................................P/N 05-01464................$10.95
This is from ACS but it no longer appears to be available. Maybe with the part number you can ask them about their old source? I found it did not work as advertised but can be made to work with some modification.

Thanks! I took this advice of a builder ans super glued a nut and inserted a thumb screw. Works like a charm. ;D
