Chapter 5 Fuselage Sides
Started 10/10/2003 finished 2/21/2004 Hours worked :61.5 Cutting jigs and laminating the top longerons
Clamping the laminations
Adding the doublers and stiffeners
In this shot you can see the saw cuts and nails used to hold them in
place.
Shaping
the foam for side build up I used a home made sanding board made out of 3/4 M.D.F. with 60 grit paper.
Sides contoured and ready for glass
You
might be able to see that I have contoured the sides to accept fuel sight
gages per Vance Atkinson.
Sides glassed and upper longerons
in place.
Glassing over upper longerons,
I used a clamp light to check for any
air bubbles that might be missed otherwise.
Lower longerons
Clamping longerons using blocks of scrap wood, I saw
this trick on other builders web
pages. Thanks
for the helpful ideas.
